Every town has one.

The familiar face who appears at the same time each morning, quietly observing the world over coffee, weather reports, and local gossip. The one who has seen things change, watched people come and go, and somehow remains exactly where you expect to find him.

The Regular imagines a northern cardinal as one of those enduring characters. Dressed in a weathered bomber jacket and perched confidently on a branch, he feels less like a bird and more like someone you've known your entire life.

Painted in rich crimson reds against a glowing orange background, this small oil study celebrates personality, place, and the stories we project onto the creatures around us. It is both a wildlife painting and a character portrait, blending observation with imagination.
